We request certain scopes when adding Order Protection via custom install. These scopes are what allow us to offer you our service.
If you’ve asked yourself “Why does Order Protection need the permissions it’s requesting?” then this page is for you.
Below we’ll walk through each scope requested and provide a high-level overview of why we’re requesting that scope.
- Orders, Edit Orders, Refund Orders, Draft Orders: Allows us to read and write order data, which we need for the core Order Protection functionality—getting order data for coverage information purposes, creating orders when a claim is resolved via reshipment, refunding an order to resolve a claim, etc.
- Products: Allows us to add and manage the Order Protection product, which is required for the widget to work properly.
- Gift Cards: Allows us to offer claim refunds via gift card, keeping more revenue in your store's ecosystem compared to a refund to the original form of payment (coming soon)
- Customers: Allows us to view necessary customer info to manage claims correctly.
- Reports, Dashboards: Allows us to view analytics data for auditing/reconciliation purposes and for forecasting claims volume and personnel.
- Discounts: Allows us to ensure any discount line items are accounted for correctly and audit/iterate to improve how our automated process handles discounts when refunding/reordering.
- Apps and channels: Allows us to establish the connection to Order Protection systems and ensure that the Order Protection product is maintained correctly.
- Themes: Allows us to add the Order Protection widget (first to a draft theme, then push live from there) and make any ongoing updates needed.
- Blog posts and pages: Allows us to add an FAQ line item to your FAQ page (typically we leave this up to the client to add where they see fit, but we sometimes manage this for the client)
- Navigation: Allows us to add/manage the shipping policy page. Also allows us to ensure the OP product isn't shown like a regular product in an "All Collections" page (coming soon)
- Manage settings: Allows us to manage the necessary settings to ensure that the Order Protection "File a Claim" widget works as expected on the Order Confirmation Page and Order Confirmation Email.
- Locations: Allows us to automatically fulfill the Order Protection product based on your desired settings. This helps avoid a situation where every order that includes Order Protection sits in “Partially Fulfilled” status forever.
- View apps..., Develop apps, Enable App Development: Allows us to create and manage the Order Protection app.
